Experience the International Festival While Camping at Big Lake RV Park & Campground
One of the things I love most about owning Big Lake RV Park & Campground is helping our guests discover everything that makes Downeast Maine so special. While many people come for the fishing, hiking, and peaceful scenery, some of our favorite weekends are when the region comes alive with community celebrations.
One event I always recommend is the International Festival in Calais, Maine which is easily enjoyed from Big Lake RV Park & Campground - your home away from home.
More Than Just a Festival
The International Festival celebrates the close relationship between Calais, Maine, and St. Stephen, New Brunswick. It's a wonderful reminder that while a river separates two countries, friendship and community bring them together.
During the festival, you'll find live entertainment, local food, parades, family activities, community events, and plenty of opportunities to experience the welcoming spirit of this border region.
Whether you're visiting for the first time or returning for another summer, it's an event that captures the heart of Downeast Maine.

Stay Somewhere Peaceful
After a full day of walking through festival activities,
listening to music, and exploring Calais and St. Stephen, there's nothing better than returning to a quiet campground. You'll come back to open skies, peaceful surroundings, and the kind of quiet that helps you truly relax.
Many evenings, our guests gather around a campfire, watch the sunset over the pond, or simply enjoy the sounds of nature before turning in for the night.
It's a completely different way to experience your vacation.
Your Home Base for Exploring Downeast Maine
During your visit, you can also explore:
Grand Lake Stream
Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge
Ministers Island, New Brunswick
St. Stephen's charming downtown
Eastport
West Quoddy Head Lighthouse
Scenic lakes, rivers, and hiking trails throughout Washington County
Many of our guests come for one event and end up discovering a whole week of adventures.

At Big Lake RV Park & Campground, we've worked hard to create a place where guests feel welcome from the moment they arrive.
We offer:
Spacious full-hookup RV sites
Pull-through and back-in sites
Modern clean bathhouse
Laundry facilities
Free Wi-Fi
A campground store
Fresh baked treats and coffee
Peaceful walking areas
Beautiful sunsets over our pond
Whether you're traveling in a motorhome, fifth wheel, travel trailer, or Airstream, you'll have plenty of room to relax and enjoy your stay.
Why I Love This Time of Year
I enjoy seeing guests leave in the morning for a day of exploring and return in the evening excited to tell us about everything they experienced.
Some spent the day at the International Festival. Others crossed into Canada, visited Ministers Island, found a new favorite restaurant, or simply enjoyed a scenic drive through the countryside.
Every camper seems to come back with a different story, and that's what makes this region so special. There's always something new to discover.
We'd Love to Welcome You
If you're planning a trip to the International Festival in Calais, consider making it more than a day trip.
Spend a few nights with us, slow down, and enjoy everything Downeast Maine has to offer.
We'd love the opportunity to welcome you to Big Lake RV Park & Campground, help you discover our favorite local places, and make your stay one you'll remember long after the festival is over.
We'll have a campsite waiting, a campfire ready, and a warm Downeast welcome when you arrive.
See you this summer!
